For a full list of the textbooks select "Text Books" from the category section in the lefthand column. If there is something in a text that might be worthwhile for all of us to read please post a short comment and the page number. Next Meeting

The Evangelism Mission Team will meet again on October 15th @ 12:00 noon...

Dana has challenged each of us to bring along three tangible ideas that we can begin to work on with respect to evangelism. As well we are charged to think through these ideas in light of Christmas...

If you haven't noticed, context is sort of a big thing for me... Here is a short article, worth reading, that talks a bit about the way our brains function. This perspective  adds great value to conversations dealing with ways that we engage the gospel message as well as practical mission and ministry....  Revenge of the Right Brain (there are two pages, so be sure to click 'next' at the bottom of page 1) Ff_70_brain1_f1

Evangelism Texts

Greetings Friends....
All 4 Evangelism texts are in. I will put them on the counter in the program office with your names on them.
Please pick them up at your earliest convenience.
I would like us to be accountable to these texts for discussion.
First and foremost I would like us to be about the task of developing our biblical understanding and theology of Evangelism. The Brueggeman text is a good place to start with that and only has 4 chapters, so I would like us to read 1 chapter for each of our next 4 meetings. In light of that structure I would like to spend 15 minutes on Oct. 1st discussing the introduction and chapter 1.
The other two books contain more practical stuff...Here are the options for those books as I see them...
I would like to engage these two books "Seminar Style"...
  1. We all read 1 chapter from each of these 2 books along with the Brueggeman text and discuss them all each time we meet.
  2. We split the group in two, half read and share highlights from the Fox/Morris book and the other half reads and shares highlights from the Swanson/Clement book. Each group could have 15 minutes each week tocover as many chapters as they want.
  3. Chris Eden and Dion Lefler read them in their entirety before October 1st and lecture for 2 hours on each text at our Oct 1st meeting....  :-)
  4. I am open to other suggestions as to how to get through these texts.....
I will make a blog post for each text so that we can post thoughts and observations as we work through the texts....
