John 10:10 10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
The greatest new for the Christian is that Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world. What does that mean? It means that that which separates us from God has been removed but something even more. It tells us of the kind of life God wants us to have: I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. In other words God doesn’t want us to have just a little bit of life but wants our life to be full of joy and peace.
This text also tells us that the “thief” and you can fill in the blank for who that is want to steal your life, kill your joy and destroy. Follow him and that’s where you’ll end up.
There are times that we live below our means as a Christian. We go around depressed, angry, with the mully grubs and that’s not what God intends. God wants the best for us.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, grant us that abundant life that you want us to have.
